Toy Story Cake

This past week, I've been crazy busy. Along with the usual crazy days with 3 kids, I had family visiting and I made a birthday cake for a little boy for his birthday on Saturday (well, celebrated it saturday!). But I remember I said I don't make cakes except for family, anymore. That's still true. I made an exception when Nicki, who's a hairstylist and styles my hair, offered to trade work for work. I'm not stupid. I said yeah!!! Brody loves Toy Story-- she told me what she wanted and here's the result. Although I have never done Fondant lettering before and I'm not pleased about it -- I did my best!!! I hope you like it. The cakes were yellow/chocolate marble cake with buttercream icing and the top moon/planet thing was rice krispie treats to get the desired shape! I made everything except for the characters, of course. So cool and fun!!! and time consuming :) But I LOVE my hair so I think I got the better end of the deal ;). Thanks, Nicki!

Hooray for Kate!

Big news about Kate TODAY. She rolled over for the first time this evening! I set her on her tummy on Charlotte's bed and she rolled over from tummy to back so quickly! I decided to test her again on the floor just in case the bed was helping her and she did it again! I then got the 3rd roll over on camera but can't upload videos anymore on blogger so I did it to Facebook. Unfortunately, it's not working there either but oh well. I tried. She loves to grab her toes and roll to the side so I'm sure it won't take long for her to figure out how to roll from back to tummy. She's a laugher and a smiler and loves loves LOVES to be held. She's just like her friend Katelynn who loves to hold material. She loves her blankets so I better get crackin' and make a taggy blanket for her. She's a fantastic sleeper (knock on wood!) and we can generally lay her down, all snug in a burrito still and she'll fall asleep on her own. NICE! I hope it lasts. She's so cute. And we love her to pieces.

Trip to the Hogle Zoo!

Li'l Zuri! SO cute!! It just turned 1! Well, it was cute until it went up to it's mother (who just went to the bathroom in both capacities) and decided to try some of it...

This tiger was AMAZING!!! Came and sat right in front of us.

This gorilla was hilarious! He ended up laying on the ground and kept looking at me like, what? what's your problem weirdo. ha ha ha.

Wade had a committee meeting with his Mission President at the end of July so we decided to make a trip down there together and go to the Hogle Zoo since the house they were meeting at was like 45 seconds away from the zoo! It was so much fun and I know both of the kids absolutely loved it. It was stinkin' hot that day and I was sooooo happy to stand in front of those ginormous misting fans. They're pretty smart people to do that, you know. We definitely need to do this more often.
P.s. Kate was there too. Just in case you were thinking where the heck she was!
